The Company

ECM was founded in 1996 by Wolfgang Hauck, who spent years as the exclusive importer of Italian brands like Gaggia, Cimbali, Pavoni, and Vibiemme before deciding to build his own machines. That import experience shaped ECM's whole approach: use tried-and-tested components from professional-grade equipment, and build machines that outlast their warranty by a decade or more. The first model, the ECM Technika, remains one of the brand's most popular machines today.

The Product

The Synchronika II is ECM's dual-boiler flagship for the home — separate stainless steel coffee and steam/hot water boilers mean you're not compromising brew temperature to get steam pressure, or vice versa, the way you would on a single-boiler or heat exchanger machine. A subtle, silver-coloured PID display lets you dial in temperatures individually, shows coffee brewing time in real time, and can flag a brew group cleaning reminder before scale or oil buildup starts affecting your shot.

A low-noise rotary pump means this machine is built for regular, even daily, plumbed-in use rather than occasional weekend brewing — and it switches between an internal tank and a fixed water connection depending on where your kitchen setup is headed. Large boiler and pump pressure gauges in a retro design give you a genuine, at-a-glance read on what the machine is doing, and the extravagant, ergonomic steam and hot water valves are built for repeated daily use without fatigue.

Independent boilers, retro gauges, rotary pump quiet enough for daily use — the Synchronika II is ECM's answer to 'I want commercial dual-boiler performance at home.'

Who It's Built For

For the serious home barista who's decided a single boiler is holding them back — someone who wants to brew and steam without one process compromising the other, and who brews frequently enough that a quiet rotary pump and plumbed-in capability genuinely matter.

It's built for someone who appreciates being able to see exactly what the machine is doing through large analogue gauges, not just a digital readout.
