About La Marzocco
La Marzocco was founded in Florence in 1927, and by 1939 had developed and patented the first coffee machine with a horizontal boiler — a design that became the industry standard. The Linea Classic carries that history forward as the machine that has quite literally furnished the specialty coffee industry's rise since the early 1990s.
The Product
The Linea Classic is carefully designed to blend into any setting — a dual boiler system, saturated groups, and a PID controller wrapped in a work of art that's linear in design and dressed in polished stainless steel, complete with stainless steel portafilters and advanced precision baskets. Its clean lines and simple charm have furnished the cafés, roasters, and chains whose names have defined specialty coffee for over three decades.
The Linea Classic comes in 1, 2, and 3 Group sizes as standard, and can even be specially ordered in a 4 Group configuration for the rare site that genuinely needs that scale.
About the Product Line: AV vs EE
The Linea Classic comes in two control versions. The EE is semi-automatic — your barista controls the start and stop of extraction with a button press, full manual timing. The AV is automatic — you can pre-programme up to four different coffee beverages, and the machine handles starting and stopping extraction at the set time. Both share the same underlying dual-boiler, saturated-group platform.
Key Features
Dual boiler system with PID control — Independent, stable temperature management for brewing and steaming.
Saturated groups — Consistent thermal performance from boiler through to portafilter.
Stainless steel portafilters and precision baskets included — No need to source aftermarket upgrades from day one.
1, 2, 3, or special-order 4 Group sizing — Scales genuinely from a small specialty bar to a high-volume flagship site.
Choosing Between Versions
Choose EE if you want your barista in full manual control of every shot's timing; choose AV if you want up to four pre-programmed beverages and consistent, hands-off dosing. Group size should be based on your genuine peak-hour throughput and barista headcount — 1 Group for a smaller specialty setup, up to 3 (or special-order 4) Group for higher-volume, multi-barista sites.
Why Choose This Product
The Linea Classic S is for the café or roastery that wants the single most recognisable, trusted machine in specialty coffee — proven across three decades of continuous use in exactly this kind of business. If you want a machine your customers will recognise the moment they see it, and your baristas will find intuitive from day one, this is the safest, most established choice in La Marzocco's range.

Buying and Installation Notes
Specify EE or AV control and group size at time of order, and confirm your available voltage and phase supply. Given its commercial duty cycle, direct plumbing into your water and drain lines is recommended.
