About the Brand
PUQ Press was founded in Delft, the Netherlands, in 2011, when engineer Laurens Pluimers built what the company calls the world's first precision coffee tamper — designed to solve a barista's repetitive strain injury as much as a consistency problem. Every unit is still hand-assembled at PUQ's own facility in Vlaardingen, and in 2023 the company broadened beyond tamping alone into PUQ, a wider ecosystem of automated barista tools including the Prep Navigator distributor. It remains the reference automatic tamper manufacturer worldwide, trusted by cafés from single-site independents to multi-roaster chains to take one more variable out of every shot.
The Product
The Puqpress Mini brings the same auto-tamping technology as PUQ's commercial range into a smaller, home-bar-sized unit. Insert your portafilter and it delivers a perfectly flat, repeatable tamp at your chosen pressure — the same tamp every time, whether it's your first flat white of the day or your fifth.
It's built for lower daily volumes than the Pro or Q, which is exactly what makes it the right fit for a home setup.
Key Features
Auto-Activation Tamping (Insert And Go)
No button, no lever — the Mini tamps automatically the moment the portafilter is seated.
Three Tamping Profiles (Speedy, Precision, Single)
Choose the cycle that suits your grind and roast rather than living with one fixed setting.
Adjustable Pressure (10–30kg)
Set your tamping force in 1kg steps and it holds there, even as your dose changes from bean to bean.
Naked & Spouted Portafilter Compatible
Works across 53–58.3mm baskets, so it isn't locked to one portafilter style.
Compact Home-Bar Footprint
At 18.1 x 13.6cm at the base, it sits comfortably next to a home espresso machine without taking over the counter.
Who It's Built For
The Mini is built for the home barista who wants café-grade tamping consistency without the price or footprint of a commercial unit. If you've ever second-guessed whether your hand tamp was level, this takes that question off the table for good.
