The Wacaco Prestina is a portable, full-immersion coffee press with no plunger, no loose parts, and nothing to lose in a bag. Instead of pushing a plunger through a carafe, you press the entire cup downward against a fixed base, and a patented duck valve inside the unit controls the flow — sealing the chamber while the coffee steeps, then opening progressively as you apply pressure to release the brew through a permanent stainless steel mesh filter. The whole cycle — grounds in, hot water, stir, press — takes about two minutes and runs on nothing but hot water. It's portable coffee stripped back to its essentials.
The cup itself does the work. Instead of a separate plunger you have to align and push, the Prestina's entire cup presses down onto the base, driving extraction through the filter. Fewer moving parts means less to misplace, less to clean, and less that can go wrong on the road.
An integrated valve keeps the brewing chamber sealed during immersion, holding the water and grounds together so flavour develops properly before extraction starts. The cup, lid, filter, drip tray, and coffee scoop all nest inside a single cylinder about the size of a large travel mug. At 254g and 134mm tall, it fits in hand luggage, a backpack side pocket, or a glovebox without needing its own bag — though a carrying pouch is included regardless.
A 74mm inner diameter gives you real room to spoon in grounds, pour water, and stir — no narrow-necked fumbling. The same opening makes rinsing the unit out afterward a five-second job rather than a chore.
