The Company
ECM was founded in 1996 by Wolfgang Hauck, who spent years as the exclusive importer of Italian brands like Gaggia, Cimbali, Pavoni, and Vibiemme before deciding to build his own machines. That import experience shaped ECM's whole approach: use tried-and-tested components from professional-grade equipment, and build machines that outlast their warranty by a decade or more. The first model, the ECM Technika, remains one of the brand's most popular machines today.
The Product
The Mechanika VI Slim is ECM's answer to a kitchen that can't spare much width but still wants a proper single-boiler machine. A convenience switch puts three preset temperatures, pre-infusion on/off, and eco mode all within easy reach, so you're tuning the machine to different roasts without digging through a menu. The 2.2L stainless steel boiler is generously sized for a machine this compact, and a removable cup warming tray gives you easy access to the water tank when it's time to refill.
Two ergonomic ECM portafilters, weight-balanced with an angled grip, make the physical act of pulling a shot noticeably less fatiguing across a busy morning, and the accessible expansion valve means brew pressure adjustment is something you can do yourself rather than a service call.
A genuine allrounder in a slim footprint — the Mechanika VI Slim doesn't ask you to shrink your standards to fit your kitchen.
Who It's Built For
For the home barista working with a narrow counter or a kitchen where every centimetre is already spoken for, who still wants a large-format boiler, adjustable brew pressure, and preset temperature switching to match different beans.
It's a strong fit for someone who brews a variety of roasts and wants preset temperature switching rather than manually dialling in a PID every time they change beans.

The Mechanika VI Slim packs a genuinely large boiler and multi-temperature flexibility into a footprint built for tight kitchens — the allrounder for someone who won't compromise on capability just because their counter is narrow.
