The Company
Modbar started with two bandmates in a basement. In the early 2000s, Corey Waldron — guitarist by night, barista and roaster by day — kept thinking about the disconnect between the craft going into a drink and what the customer actually saw: a big countertop machine blocking the view. Combined with bassist Aric Forbing's experience as a machine pattern engineer, that frustration became a genuinely new way to build an espresso machine, with the inner workings moved entirely under the counter. La Marzocco was an early investor from Modbar's first showing in 2007, and has taken an increasingly active role since 2016 — today Modbar and La Marzocco work closely together across sales, service, marketing, and manufacturing, and Modbar's espresso systems are built on R&D shared directly with the Linea PB and Linea Mini.
The Product
Espresso AV moves the entire espresso machine under the counter, leaving only a slim tap above it — built on years of shared R&D with the Linea PB and Linea Mini, and delivering the same temperature stability and reliability that made the Linea PB an industry icon. One under-counter module supports two espresso taps with no additional power required, which means genuine high-volume output without doubling your equipment footprint or your power draw.
A simple, multi-position programmable lever gives your barista precise control, and you can dose by volume, weight, or continuously depending on your workflow. Auto back-flush and rinse programs handle routine maintenance without manual intervention, and the adaptable drip tray comes with or without a built-in scale depending on whether your team weighs every shot. Power, water, and drain connections sit at the side of the module for easy technician access, and a removable group cap simplifies above-counter service without needing to pull the whole unit apart.
Linea PB stability, none of the countertop bulk — Espresso AV puts the engineering where you need it and the customer experience where you want it.
Who It's Built For
For the café that's building its bar design around the customer experience — where a bulky traditional machine blocking sightlines to the barista isn't acceptable, but the temperature stability and reliability of a genuine La Marzocco platform absolutely is.
It's built for high-volume environments specifically — one module running two taps with no extra power needed makes this a genuinely efficient way to scale output without a second full machine.
