The Company
JoeFrex is a German specialist in barista tools. Founder Joerg F. Rexroth, an inventor and industrial engineer, started designing high-end espresso tools in 1996. The company traded as Concept-Art before it took the JoeFrex name. Today its tampers, tamping stations, knock boxes and cleaning tools are used on café bars and home coffee stations across Europe and North America. Every JoeFrex product starts from a real workflow problem, and this brush is a good example.
The Product
The JoeFrex Cleaning Steam Brush connects a brush head to your espresso machine's steam wand with a heat-resistant silicone hose. That turns your machine's own steam into a cleaning tool. You fit it to the wand, open the steam valve, and the steam pushes out through the bristles while you scrub.
How It Works
A dry brush moves coffee grounds around. Steam dissolves the oils that hold them in place. Pushed through the bristles, hot steam softens the baked-on coffee oil and fine grounds that collect around the shower screen, the group gasket and inside the portafilter. The bristles then lift that residue away. You get the cleaning power of steam and the scrubbing action of a brush in one pass, with no chemicals involved.
Why the Hose Matters
The 60 cm silicone hose puts distance between your hand and the steam source. You can work around the group head from a comfortable angle instead of reaching in next to hot metal. The brush body is stainless steel, so it handles repeated steam cycles without warping or degrading.
Built-In Adaptability
Steam wand tips differ in diameter from brand to brand. JoeFrex supplies adapters so the hose seats securely on most home, prosumer and commercial wands. A spare brush head is included, and replacement heads are sold separately, so a worn brush never means replacing the whole tool.
Who It's Built For
The home barista on a heat exchanger or dual boiler machine. You backflush and brush the group, but the shower screen still has a dark film you can't seem to shift. Steam gets into the screen's perforations and around the gasket edge in a way a dry brush can't. The result is cleaner-tasting shots between full strip-downs.
The café closing down at the end of a shift. Every group head and portafilter needs a proper clean before the bar shuts. The steam brush cuts through a day's worth of coffee oils faster than scrubbing by hand, and the steam supply is already on your bar.
The owner who wants to avoid harsh chemicals. Steam cleans with nothing but water. It's a good fit between your regular detergent backflushes, especially if you'd rather not run chemicals through your machine more often than needed.
The person who keeps their machine for years. Old coffee oil goes rancid, taints flavour and wears seals faster. Regular steam cleaning keeps the group head in better shape, which protects the taste of your coffee and the life of your gasket.
A note on your machine: This brush works best on machines with a strong, sustained steam supply, such as heat exchangers, dual boilers and commercial machines. Small single-boiler machines with limited steam pressure will clean less effectively. If you're unsure whether your machine is suited, contact us and we'll advise.
Safety first: Steam is extremely hot. Always hold the brush by its body, never point it at people, and keep children and pets away while you use it. Close the steam valve and disconnect the brush from the wand after every use. Never leave it connected to your machine.

It's a simple upgrade to your cleaning routine that you'll taste in the cup.
